The National Film Board of Canada has been sharing Canada’s story for more than 80 years and inspiring learners through a uniquely Canadian lens. This session will explore the NFB’s enormous catalogue of educational films and digital resources that highlight historical, environmental and social justice-based issues impacting communities across Manitoba and throughout Canada, including one of the world’s largest offers of Indigenous cinema focussed on teaching Reconciliation. This session will feature CAMPUS, the NFB’s education streaming service available to all Border Land teachers through your division-wide subscription. Discover teacher guides, digital lessons and interactive resources that support Manitoba’s K-12 curriculum. Learn how to explore the NFB’s education catalogue by subject, theme and age. See how to edit clips from your favourite NFB films to fit a lesson or student activity. Learn how to create thematic playlists to share with your students online, or via Google classroom and discover the NFB’s award winning collection of interactive resources designed to foster media-literacy and to inspire global citizenship. Make all your lesson multi-media based and leverage the power of Canadian film to engage students through storytelling.
